Step 1: Sterility is Key

Gloves on, scientist! Pop on the nitrile gloves included in your kit, then give them a good clean with the blue Clinell wipes. Next, wipe down the jar’s injection port and the surrounding area with the green Clinell wipe.

Step 2: Inoculation

Inject some spores or existing liquid culture through a rubber injection port. A few ml will do the trick.

Step 3: Colonization

Tuck your jar away in a cosy, dark, and warm spot. Keep it at about 25°C—not too hot, not too cold, just right!

Step 4: Shake It

When you see white mycelium floating around, it’s time to give that jar a daily shake. Breaking up the mycelium helps it grow faster.

Step 5: Storage

When your mycelium grows to about half the jar, it’s time to store it. Keep it in the jar or transfer it to the sterile syringes we’ve provided.

Step 6: Transferring LC to syringes

If you’re moving that mycelium into syringes, here’s the plan:

Gloves back on, cleaned with the blue wipes.
Carefully open a syringe and attach the sterile needle.
Flip the jar upside down so the mycelium settles at the bottom.
Stab the needle into the injection port and gently suck up the liquid culture.
Remove the needle and cap the syringe with the sterile cap.

And Now You Have It! Your very own liquid culture—how easy was that?
